About Readies
Our History: Readies Cafe has been relocated to 39 Broad Street, Red Bank. Originally opening its doors in 1957. Originally, it was named the Village Pork Store, a German Butcher Market that offered fresh butchered meats and European Specialties
Its customer base ranged from local families to transplanted Europeans from all over Central Jersey who would come to get the taste of their homeland in their favorite Red Bank food store. As the years past and peoples eating habits changed, the Village Pork Store changed its name to Readies Fine Foods, the name of the family that started it all and was still running the operation. They streamlined the meat department to make way for prepared foods, soups, salads and a lunch menu with sandwiches named after popular businesses and area establishments. In July of 2001, after more than 40 years behind the counter, Jack Readie decided to retire. He sold the store to current owner Tom Fishkin. Tom had been in the food business himself for quite some time having over 20 years experience in the produce then catering and delicatessen industry. Today, Readies is known as one of the areas finest delicatessens and caterers. They also have a thriving Gift Basket business and still maintain the Old World charm that the store has exuded throughout its existence.
